WINTER SCHOOL

Study and research are, to a large extent, solitary activities. Yet sharing their fruits is a profoundly communal experience: the horizon widens, the love of knowledge takes root, and the treasure of learning — together with the passion for seeking it — spreads and is renewed. For many of us, the longing for the light of truth that rejuvenates the soul was born precisely from encountering those who live in and from that same spirit.

The university is, by its very nature, the fitting space for such an encounter. Nevertheless, everyday routine — exams, reports, meetings, committees, and so many other tasks — can at times dull what originally awakened the university vocation. The Junípero and Morada Schools seek to rekindle that vocation by offering a space for free expression and ongoing exchange, animated by fellowship and friendship.

In July, the Wohnung Winterschule, Winter School–Morada, invites those who wish to share part of their research work before submitting it for publication or presenting their thesis. Few things are as stimulating as a conversation among colleagues and friends who are genuinely interested in seeing our efforts reach fruition. And if that conversation unfolds in the warmth of a fire, words become but a welcome complement.

SUBMISSION FORMATS

1. Advanced drafts or near finished versions of articles or book chapters, or sections of a thesis in progress. Maximum length: 8,000 words.
2. Outlines of articles or book chapters. Minimum length: 2,500 words. In addition to the developed parts, a description of the complete paper should be included in the form of an extended summary.

METHODOLOGY

Participants will receive all papers two weeks in advance so that they can read them carefully. As prior reading is assumed, presentations will be brief and ample time will be given for comments and discussion (60-minute blocks). The aim is for authors to receive valuable feedback to continue, complete or revise their writings before submitting them for evaluation.
